Reinhard Kunkel

Reinhard Kunkel studied economics at Saarbrüeken, and as a German swimming champion, he visited Africa and went on his first safari. The natural beauty he saw had a profound impact on him, causing him to change course and instead of becoming an economist, he became a wildlife photographer. Also a filmmaker and writer, he is the author of African Elephants (1998), and his photographs and articles have appeared in many magazines, including National Geographic, Life, Stern, Geo, Paris-Match, Terre Sauvage, BBC Wildlife Magazine and the Sunday Times magazine.
